My first visit I got "to-go" the large menu has so many choices it was hard to decide, but everything we tried was wonderful! Highly recommended and we can't wait to try out again!

My husband and I have been going here for years and it is, hands down, my favorite mexican place in town. The servers are always friendly! The food is also never a disappointment, and they always have the chips and salsa on the table. I will always highly recommend this place!

Let me start by saying, my family & I LOVE THIS PLACE! The staff is kind & friendly & I've NEVER had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a table. Their food has top notch flavor & can easily be compared to El Tap, but is super easy on your wallet. They also have a kids menu (my kids get the Tenders & Fries EVERY time). The food comes out quick & is always hot. I'd definitely recommend El Magueyal if you're on this side of town & are looking for a quick (& delicious) bite to eat. They have a good alcohol selection & offer Happy Hour. There is outdoor seating as well. They also offer take out & their chips & salsa, which is super flavorful, are included. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Great food that usually tastes freshly prepared (which makes them stand out from the competition), nice casual atmosphere and colorful decor, good service. Their menu is fairly large with some different dishes not offered by other local Mexican restaurants. Family friendly. Salsa and queso dip are both top notch.

I hadn't been here in a while since it's a little bit of a drive for me. I got the Burrito Arado. As always before, it was very good. Service was still great also. We are fortunate, here in Cookeville, to have several excellent Mexican restaurants and El Magueyal is at the top of my list.

Just moved into Cookeville from Texas a couple of months ago and have been checking out all the local Mexican food restaurants in the area. Mexican food here in Tennesee is, well, just different than what Texans are used to, and being from Texas we love our "Tex-Mex." Until today I've never found a Mexican food restaurant here that I really liked. On my way home today I saw this little place and thought "why not?" Lo and behold, it was absolutely the closest thing I've found in the area to the type of Mexican food that we are used to in Texas. Everything we had for lunch was great, and the service outstanding. I most definitely will be back.

Small, retail strip center location with dated but comfortable atmosphere. Once I got past the slight cleaning smell and the over abundance of cologne on our waiter, the rest was uphill. Ordered chile relleno and and burrito which were average at best. Service was friendly and responsive. All in all nothing worthy enough to return.

Very authentic atmosphere. The food was very good, large portions. Easily accessible,serves alcohol. Child friendly. Can accommodate a large crowd. Outdoor dining. My favorite was eating Sopapillas! I haven't had those since Arizona. Friendly and helpful staff.

Read a review that said best Mexican food in town and I would agree, large menu and went outside my normal choice and was glad I did. A little outside of town area around interstate but not a horrible distance.
